What can I do as a parent so my child will meet or even exceed his developmental milestones?
There are two factors which generally determine how your child grows and develops. We conveniently call them “nature” and “nurture”. By nature, we mean the genetic make-up of your kid. The genes are basically passed on by our parents to us and determine, for example, the physical characteristics of the child. “Nurture” refers to the total environment wherein the child is raised. This may refer to the home, school, community or society. It is in the environment where the parent can do so much to enhance the child’s development. Fill your home with children’s educational toys. These are good tools to develop the intellectual, physical, social and emotional well-being of the child. Of course, the love, care, and attention given by parents to the child is equally important.
